Downtown Bridgeport is experiencing significant investment. Public and private funds are being poured into a variety of exciting projects that promise to continue—and strengthen-- the ongoing process of revitalization.The successful completion of the ArtSpace project, which converted the long-vacant Read’s Department Store building into artists lofts and retail space, has brought an influx of new energy and vibrancy to the downtown. With the new Intermodal Transportation Center completed and the City Trust, Arcade and Bijou Square projects well under way, there is an atmosphere of excitement and opportunity that is highly contagious. Current and planned investments in downtown Bridgeport include:

City Trust Building $24.5M Renovation of historic 152,000 sq. ft. building and associated garage including 120 units of market- rate housing with ground floor retail/ restaurant

Bijou Square $6.2M Renovation of four buildings into three, totaling 60,000 sq. ft. Re-uses include retail, restaurants, office, resi- dential condominiums and historic movie house.

Arcade & 144 Golden Hill Street $18.3M Restoration for mixed use of historic shopping mall, hotel and 8-story office building.

Downtown North, Parts I & II $69M Adaptive reuse project for mixed use development to include 375 units of market rate housing.

Housatonic Community College Expansion $51M 227,000 sq ft expansion to the former Sears Department store for classrooms and gallery space.

Intermodal Transportation Center Bridgeport's new state-of-the-art bus facility, part of the Intermodal Transportation Center, consists of an enclosed lobby/waiting area and transit offices and can accommodate 17 buses simultaneously.
