Housatonic Community College Expansion

Housatonic Community College serves an eleven-town area in Southwestern Connecticut, centering on the City of Bridgeport. A member of the Connecticut Community-Technical College system, the College was founded in 1967, and moved to its present site in downtown Bridgeport 30 years later. HCC’s state-of-the-art 185,000 sq. ft. campus includes a library, laboratories, classrooms, seminar spaces, computer training facilities, museum, cafeteria and a performing arts center. There is also a revolving display of some of the college's noteworthy collection of 4,400 pieces of art throughout the campus and in the Burt Chernow Galleries.

The college’s planned expansion into the adjacent 188,000 square foot Sear’s building will double the size of the physical campus, providing additional classroom and gallery space. Construction, which is expected to cost $35 million, is scheduled to commence in March 2006.
