Aida at The Klein

Opera is coming back to The Klein for the first time in over 15 years! Aida is the tale of an Egyptian prince (Radames) and an Ethiopian princess (Aida) who fall in love amidst a war between their nations. The situation intensifies when the Egyptian princess (Amneris), who wants Radames for herself, notices Radames’s love for Aida. Gateway Classical Music Society is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that has been performing operatic and symphonic masterworks, with outstanding soloists every year since 2004, to communities in the Tri-State area. Last season, the Gateway Orchestra was invited by the New York Philharmonic to perform in the Philharmonic’s New World Initiative in celebration of the Philharmonic’s 175th anniversary. Ida Angland, Gateway’s artistic director and conductor, has been characterized as having “inner genius,” “idealism” and “grit,” and being “specially gifted.” Gateway’s performances have been described as “thrilling,” “compelling,” “a revelation,” “unforgettable,” and “amazing.” (Stamford Advocate, Brooklyn Eagle, Italian Voice, Italian Citizen, Greenwich Time and other regional publications).
