This is the 29th year for the Vincent Vizzo Columbus Day Concerts featuring a Marine Band with 26 of those years at the Klein Memorial Auditorium. The sponsor of the annual concerts is the Council of Italian-American Societies of Greater Bridgeport, Inc. The Band has just returned from Finland where they represented the United States in a “Tattoo” International Music Festival with 7 other countries from around the globe. At the Friday, October 5 Concert, the Band will be recognizing Veterans of the Vietnam War – “Welcome Home!” and on Saturday, October 6, the Band will be recognizing Blue and Gold Star Families. There will be special musical selections that the Band will perform for each night of recognition. The Concerts each night will begin at 6:45 PM with doors opening at 5:30 PM. We ask all concertgoers to bring with them non-perishable food items to be distributed to Veterans in need by the City of Bridgeport’s Office of Veteran Affairs. Free tickets can be picked up at the following locations starting Friday, September 14: Lupe’s Drug Store: 3129 Main St (North End) OR Port 5 National Association of Naval Veterans: 69 Brewster St (Black Rock)
