Park(ing Day) is an annual global re-visioning of urban public space that encourages community members, small businesses, cultural institutions, students, and more to transform metered parking spaces into temporary park-lets. Its purpose is to celebrate public spaces in a way that everyone can enjoy.
This year, Downtown Bridgeport will participate in Park(ing) day on Friday, September 20, 2024 during happy hour (3:00-6:00 p.m.). We have seven locations along Main Street, Markle Court, Broad Street, and Fairfield Avenue participating! A performer and cultural institution will be paired up in each spot to offer engaging activities in the parking space. Parklet pop ups can be found at 29 Markle Ct, Jimmy’s, WPKN 89.5 Community Radio, Thelma’s Soul Food, Ursa Gallery, and Baldwin Plaza.
Thank you to all of our partners in creating this celebration of Downtown Bridgeport, public spaces, and our vibrant business community: Art Simplicated, poet Brendan Bish, Bridgeport Pride Center, Gerald Moore, and WPKN Community Radio.
