PARK(ing) Day
Park(ing) Day in Downtown Bridgeport
Park(ing Day) is an annual global re-visioning of urban public space that was developed in 2005. The event encourages community members, small businesses, cultural institutions, students, and more to transform metered parking spaces into temporary park-lets. Its purpose is to celebrate public spaces in a way that everyone can enjoy. This is a great opportunity to promote a neighborhood business through partnership with a local cultural institution.
This year, Downtown Bridgeport will participate in Park(ing) day on Friday, September 15, 2023 during happy hour (4:00-7:00 p.m.).
We have seven restaurants along Main Street, Markle Court, Broad Street, and Fairfield Avenue participating! Each restaurant will be paired with a performer and cultural institution to offer engaging activities in the parking space in front of the restaurant. Find them here:
- 29 Markle Ct will host poet Supreme Divinity with additional activities from the Bridgeport Public Library.
- Gather Tap & Tavern will host comedian Jackson Wassan with additional activities from The Barnum Museum.
- Poe’s Kitchen will host the Gang Poetry collective with additional activities from the Mosaic Coalition.
- Queen’s Delight will host The Game with Gerald Moore with additional activities from CT LEAD.
- Brick & Barrel will host body painter Alicia Cobb and dancers from the Dominican American Coalition of CT.
- Trattoria A Vucchella will host musician Sheneta Nicole with additional activities from WPKN Community Radio.
Participating restaurants may offer a special drink, appetizer, meal discount, or perhaps raffle off a free meal to patrons of the park-let parking space.
